#Interest text messages
- What: one-time sign-in codes, and safety-plan messages to a contact a user names. Never marketing.
- How often: one text per sign-in code you ask for; up to three texts per safety plan.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to stop texts from #Interest. Reply HELP for help, or write to support@theinterest.app.
Sign-in codes
#Interest accounts sign in with a phone number. When you enter your number in the app and tap Send code, we text you a six-digit code. Each code is sent only because you asked for it. The sign-in screen says so before you tap:
Your phone number
We'll text you a code to sign in.
We'll text a 6-digit code to this number. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.
Tell someone your plan
We'll text your plan to your contact, and again if you don't check in.
Your contact gets up to three texts for this plan and can reply STOP at any time. Message and data rates may apply.
The code looks like this:
123456 is your #Interest code. It expires in 5 minutes. We will never ask you to read it to anyone.
Safety-plan messages
Before meeting someone, a user can share a safety plan with a contact they trust: where they are going, when, and when they will check in. The app texts the contact only after the user confirms the contact agreed, as shown above. The contact receives:
- the plan, once, when it is made:
Maria shared a safety plan with you via #Interest. Meeting: Alex Where: Cafe Grumpy, 20th St When: 18:00 on Sat 10 Oct If Maria has not checked in by 20:00 you will get another message. You do not need to do anything now, and you do not need the app. Reply STOP to stop texts from #Interest.
- a follow-up, only if the user has not checked in by the time they set:
Maria has not checked in by the time in their plan. They were meeting Alex at Cafe Grumpy, 20th St. It may be nothing. If you cannot reach them, you have the details above.
- an all-clear, only after a follow-up, once the user checks in:
Maria has now checked in safely. Nothing more to do.
Stopping texts
Reply STOP to any text from #Interest and we will send no more texts to that number. Reply START to receive them again. If you stop texts, you can still sign in with a passkey; a safety plan naming your number will be refused, and the person making it will be told you can't be texted.
Reply HELP for help, or email support@theinterest.app.
